I am stunned.<br /><br />It is ridiculous that the children are being charged. Beyond ridiculous. I was raised to believe that any great screw ups I made as a child would be made up by my parents, which instilled a great fear into me that kept me from doing things that would be to the detriment of myself and others. I was raised to believe that stealing is wrong. I was taught a lot of things as I was raised, and despite my dislike for my parents, I understood why they said and did what they did, and I am better for it.<br /><br />What perplexes me is why there is no mention of the parents. It is obvious that they play a greater role than anyone might believe, more on that in a moment. The fourteeen year old is old enough to make her own choices, but the twelve year old should have been released to family members.<br /><br /><blockquote></blockquote><blockquote>Nobody was injured during the robbery. It is not known at this time if they will be suspended...<br /> <br /> <br /> </blockquote>The children face suspension from school. Why? I don't understand it, why would the school deprive these children of an education they so obviously lack. While I'm not one to believe that the schools should make up for the shortcomings of the parents, in this case they should more than step up to the plate. It frustrates me to know that these children are being abandoned and simply punished rather than given the chance to learn from their mistakes.<br /><br />The parents themselves, however, should most definitely be required to enter some sort of counseling or parenting classes.
